Music – The Tune and the Lyrics

I always loved, loved, loved music, but not for the lyrics, I often even don’t know them. In a way they are not relevant. Music in my life is for mood, beat me up, rock me or mellow and calm me. Melody, dynamic and rhythm are “the thing”. It goes so far that a song could have wonderful lyrics but if I don’t like the voice of the singer or the melody then I don’t like the song.

So, hip-hop doesn’t strike a chord, it is almost like talking, the “music” too repetitive. Don’t feel offended! It is about my liking, nothing more and nothing less.

I even would like operas if only women would not play a part. Tolerable to my ears is only the alto range.

Lyrics come to me when I intend to listen to them. I must focus to do so otherwise the lyrics are kind of background noise.

My father loved jazz. He had records of the best drummers of his time. These records made me wild, not in a bad or destructive way, like ignited. I don’t remember this, so I can’t describe it better. When I was a teen I wished I could play drums, But the must amazing instrument for me is the alto saxophone.

A bit of both in the following two videos. Goosebumps time!

Phil Collins, Chester Thompson, Luis Conte

Or more mellow?
